What’s involved

A deckhand working for a fishing charter company supports the skipper and ensures that everyone on board is having a safe and enjoyable fishing experience, they attend to the guests, maintain fishing equipment and clean and store caught fish.

The minimum requirement for a deckhand position in some Australian states is Certificate I in Maritime Operations (General Purpose Hand Near Coastal) or an Elements of Shipboard Safety Certification
 

Boating or fishing experience, Maritime certifications, such as a Coxswain or Marine Engine Driver certificate would be an advantage.
