Austral Fisheries, Austral Academy was launched to connect with young Aussies and amplify the visibility of the many exciting opportunities, pathways, and professional careers available in the seafood industry.
Austral offers on-site school visits and attends numerous career expos throughout Australia. The Academy website includes resources for teachers and career advisors.
Recfishwest
Recfishwest is the peak body for Recreational fishing in Western Australia. They ensure high-quality recreational fishing experiences are maintained and enjoyed, as an integral part of the WA lifestyle. Recfishwest has a range of volunteer opportunities available throughout the year, whether it's supporting the SunSmart Fishing Clinic program, stocking events or anything in between, if you have a student interested in the Recreational fishing side of things, contact Recfishwest in Western Australia.
Fishability
Fishability has been providing accessible fishing opportunities for children and adults that require support to experience the joy of fishing for over 20 Years. Our programs are run by trained and experienced volunteers and include the use of accessible fishing gear such as purpose-built motorised rods, reels and fishing holders. Fishability is built upon volunteering programs and if your students are interesting developing skills in support work and have a passion for fishing, then this is the perfect combination for them

Yumbah Aquaculture
Yumbah is a pioneer of onshore abalone farming and has expanded to mussel, oyster and oyster spat production. They offer work-experience programs and placements to students.

Petuna
Originally a fishing company, Petuna diversified into Aquaculture and is one of the largest seafood industry employers in Tasmania. They offer work-experience programs at both the high school and university level.

Huon Aquaculture
Huon Aquaculture is a large Aquaculture and food processing company based in Tasmania. Many current employees at Huon have gotten their foot through the door by doing work experience during high school.

Tassal
Tassal is a Tasmanian-based Australian Salmon Farming company. Currently, it is the largest producer of Tasmanian grown Atlantic salmon, supplying salmon to both domestic and international markets. Tassal offers work placements for students looking to get their hours in for their Cert II completion.

Ornatas is focused on the sustainable farming of tropical rock lobsters and is pioneering commercial lobster aquaculture to help meet the growing global demand for seafood.
Ornatas offers work experience opportunities to high school students. These opportunities allow students to gain hands-on experience in aquaculture and marine science, fostering an interest in sustainable seafood production and providing insight into potential career pathways within the industry.

Atlantis Fisheries Consulting Group is a company specialising in fisheries management, aquaculture consulting, and sustainable seafood practices. In addition to their consulting work, Atlantis Fisheries Consulting Group occasionally offers work experience opportunities to high school students. The Geraldton Fishermen's Co-operative is one of the world's leading processors and exporters of rock lobsters. They are deeply committed to the community and the development of the fishing industry. The Co-operative offers work placements to provide hands-on experience in various aspects of the seafood supply chain, from harvesting to processing and logistics. These placements are designed to equip participants with practical skills and insights into the industry, fostering career growth and supporting the sustainability of the local fishing economy.

Monsoon Aquatics is one of the world leading suppliers of premium hand-picked Australian Coral and Marine Life. They offer work experience opportunities to students and are also very involved in tours and providing excursions for students.

Humpty Doo Barramundi
Humpty Doo Barramundi has a range of programs. The company hosts tours from local fishing clubs and supports the Amateur Fishing Association NT, and runs a children’s fishing clinic at their farm.
They support the Institute of Culinary Excellence in Brisbane and the Australian Institute of Technical Chefs sponsoring their scholarship program.
