Nursery Technician
Nursery technicians (also known as fisheries technician) provide assistance with the growing of marine or freshwater animals. They assist with the breeding and farming of fish, prawns, crustaceans, oysters and other marine species.
Aquaculture Technician
Aquaculture technicians (sometimes advertised as farmhands) assist on farm with the growing of marine or freshwater animals, they monitor water quality and assist with the breeding, farming and feeding of fish, prawns, crustaceans, oysters and other aquatic animals.
Sectors include: salmon, cod, trout, barramundi, abalone, oysters, prawns, crabs, scallops, lobsters and other marine species.
Digital skills hub (Prawn farmers)
The Digital Skills Hub aims to provide the Australian prawn farming industry with access to education and training in the digital skills required to accelerate the adoption of current and emerging technologies.
This online resource has been designed for industry participants to work at their own pace for a duration suitable to their workload and season requirements.
Hatchery Technician
Hatchery technicians provide assistance with the growing of marine or freshwater animals. They assist with the breeding and farming of fish such as salmon, cod, trout and barramundi and other marine species including prawns, lobsters, scallops, crabs, oysters and other marine species.
Aquatic Veterinarian
A veterinarian that specialises in aquatic animal health or marine animal health identifies and diagnoses the health and condition of fish and other aquatic animals, and provides the treatment, care and advice required for the condition.
Aquatic Animal Pathologist
An aquatic animal pathologist studies disease in aquatic species, they test samples like blood or tissue in a laboratory for the identification, diagnosis, and treatment of disease. They may also conduct research into the causes and prevention of aquatic animal disease.
Warehouse Assistant
A warehouse assistant works as part of a warehouse team to support the receive, store and distribute goods, they check and record shipping documentation, load and unload goods and materials, pick and pack orders for delivery and keep the warehouse tidy.
Assistant Store Manager (2IC)
The assistant store manager of a bait and tackle or fishing and camping store is second in charge and supports the store manager with the daily running of the business, they are involved with staff management, inventory control, promotions and customer service.
