NSILP, supported by Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC) is the only national fishing and aquaculture leadership program. Designed in consultation with fishing and aquaculture stakeholders, NSILP is for those wishing to build leadership capabilities and take up seafood leadership roles. 

The program encourages all sectors including:

• Indigenous/traditional fishers
• recreational fishers
• aquaculturists
• commercial fishers
• all people involved in the supply and value chain of the Australian seafood industry

As a program participant, you will develop an understanding of how to impact constructively, resulting in positive outcomes for the fishing and aquaculture community nationally.

ARLP supports individuals who want to respond to regional, rural, and remote Australia’s most complex challenges, as well as the opportunities that arise. ARLP involves

• 15-months program including 4 face-to-face sessions between 5-10 days in length, online sessions and independent project work
• both international and remote domestic travel with isolation from day-to-day duties and limited to no contact

Applying is competitive and rigorous - applicants are matched to a funding partner whose industry or purpose they align with. Cohorts are announced every February with the program running from June (course intake) until September the following year. Expressions of interest are open all year round.

Nuffield provides scholarships every year to fishers and farmers in Australia to increase practical farming/fishing knowledge, management skills and techniques generally. 

Scholarships provide opportunities to study practices overseas and promote a closer understanding between farmers and fishers in the countries visited.

Applications open annually in March for research/travel to commence the year after.
